Doing Your Job
Religious Leaders support for #DoYourJob campaign
Advocates from National Council of Jewish Women Sections across the country have embarked upon an aggressive campaign to encourage the United States Senate to “do its job” and consider President Obama’s nomination for the Supreme Court. As part of the “Do Your Job” campaign, NCJW’s Texas State Public Affairs Co-Chair, Elaine Bernstein, met with Rabbi Elana Zelony of Congregation Beth Torah, in Richardson Texas. Rabbi Zelony, in turn, has signed letters to Senators Cruz and Cornyn asking them to do their job. Rabbi Zelony supports NCJW’s position that the Senate should do its constitutionally-mandated job. Please ask your religious leaders to sign similar letters in support of our “Do your Job” campaign.

“The American people expect that the Senate will do its job so that the judicial branch can carry out its duties. The Senate should fulfill its constitutional responsibility to ensure that the Supreme Court will function as the beacon of justice that our founders envisioned.”
“If Congress fails to act, the Supreme Court could go two terms — well over a year — with a vacancy.”
“As people of diverse faiths, we are inspired and informed by the pursuit of justice. We must do all we can to ensure that our nation’s highest court is fully functioning. If we fail to expeditiously advance the process of filling the current vacancy, we abdicate our responsibility to justly serve the dignity of all.”
Please let your Senators know that you want them to #DoYourJob. Tweet Senator Cornyn, .@johncornyn, Senator Cruz, .@sentedcruz. The dot before the @ sign assures that your tweet appears on their timeline.
