MEET OUR AWARDEES

PAST PRESIDENT JOYCE ROSENFIELD, Hannah G. Solomon Awardee

The Hannah G. Solomon Award is presented to an individual who has:
▪️ A strong NCJW identity and has changed the lives of others through her leadership efforts and service;
▪️ Helped change and expand the role of women in vital areas of community life;
▪️ Motivated others to work for change and;
▪️ Driven progress and enlightenment in the community.

For over three decades, Joyce worked full time as a geriatric specialist at the Dallas Home for the Aged and at The Plaza at Edgemere, receiving many awards for her service along the way.

Joyce still found time to be an active member of NCJW Dallas Evening Branch (serving as Senior Citizen Committee Chair, Community Service Vice President, and President) as well as an active member and volunteer leader with Temple Emanu-El.

Among her many volunteer efforts for NCJW Dallas and NCJW Inc., she served on and then chaired the PACE Committee, helped revise both the By-Laws and Policy & Procedures for both Section and National, helped organize the first NCJW Texas Section Retreat, helped organize and attended Day on the Hill, led Day of Service, served as Community Service Co-Vice President, and still serves as a West Dallas Initiative School Liaison. For NCJW, Inc., she cochaired the Section Advisory Council (SAC), developed a Section Diagnostic Checklist for all sections, worked on their Financial and Membership Plans and attended Leadership Institute, Washington Institute and National Conventions.

During Joyce’s presidency (2016-2018), NCJW Dallas developed its first Strategic Plan, launched the West Dallas Initiative and The Suitcase Project, held two record-setting annual fundraising events, reconfigured the PACE process, and worked to expand potential partnerships with Dallas agencies including Dallas CASA, the TEA Fund, Gendercide Awareness, City of Dallas Hunger Summit, and over a dozen others. In addition, during her presidency, NCJW Dallas was chosen by Mosaic Family Service to receive their Humanitarian Award. This was the first time it was given to an organization rather than an individual.

When asked what she is most proud of in that lifetime of accomplishments besides her family, Joyce first cites her long career working with older adults, providing quality programs to enrich their lives, and the satisfaction of helping them and their families through life’s many journeys. In almost the same breath, she describes her passion for NCJW Dallas, all that it stands for, all the work that it does locally and nationally, and the incredible caliber of women who work tirelessly to make things happen. It always fills her with great pride. She is so proud to be a part of NCJW.
