Women’s Reproductive Rights Values

Throughout the entirety of Jewish tradition, the demand for justice has been at the forefront of our thoughts and actions. The members of the Dallas Section of the National Council of Jewish Women strive for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms. We fervently believe in and are dedicated to assuring that women’s reproductive rights are protected; that access to reproductive healthcare and the individual right to decide when and if a woman will bear a child, is fundamental to a woman’s right to personal freedom, regardless of her race, religion or financial ability.

We are committed to recognizing and addressing issues that interfere with a woman’s right to choose her reproductive health care and time of child bearing, whether the issue stems from societal pressures or legal statutes.

We will pursue, with respect for the views of all, meaningful policy discussions on fundamental issues of women’s reproductive rights, with the objective of creating policies and laws that will assure and protect a woman’s right to choose, and the ability to acquire her choice of birth control method without interference.

We will contribute to the extent needed and/or within our means, to organizations whose ideologies and operations are consistent with our views and objectives if they have need for financial support.

We believe that our commitment to these values will, in the long term, help provide women with safe and accessible means to reproductive health sources, and the enduring freedom to make their personal reproductive decisions.

Voter Engagement

Throughout its history, NCJW has worked to expand voting rights, drive voter turnout and educate on the issues. Our ultimate goal is that every eligible voter is able to register to vote, cast a ballot, and engage in all levels of government in a deep and meaningful way.

To achieve this goal, we advocate for election laws, policies and practices that ensure safe, easy and equitable access to the ballot and elimination of obstacles to participation in the electoral process – so that every vote counts and can be verified.

Specifically at this time, NCJW advocates that our Texas governor and other state officials implement:
• Online and extended voter registration – including election day registration
• Expansion of registered voters’ eligibility to vote by mail
• Adequate funding for local election administrators to ensure that in-person voting is safe and accessible.
